Goat yoga… What is it? Why goats? And yoga?
Some people attend for the physical movement. Some attend because it’s an outside class. And others simply come for the goats. Everyone leaves with a smile on their face because they found exactly what they needed: no judgement, moving + stretching their body and goat snuggles + giggles!
With studio classes, there tends to be a bit of social anxiety coupled into the experience. There are always thoughts of “Is my ability good enough?” “Will I embarrass myself by falling?” “Am I dressed correctly?” and so on. Sometimes that internal voice is relentless! But goats? They take that voice and kick it to the curb! You think you are too “weird” to attend? Can’t do yoga correctly? Wait until you see this goat pull a fast one, head butting another one or fancy jump-kicking! Attendees have found their selves laughing to tears over the goaties’ silly antics!
Goats are the perfect animal to pair with yoga. They are not as in your face as a dog, nor are goats as anti-social as most cats. Goats are the equally balanced mix of “curious” and “do their own thing”. You truly NEVER know what personality they will bring for your time together. There are classes where you watch them head butt each other, scramble for the SAME blade of grass (never mind the other 1000+ blades of grass in the yard!), or cause general mischief trying to escape the fencing. The next yoga class? They are very calm, snuggly, and make their self at home on your yoga mat (or lap!) for a zen induced nap!
Goat yoga classes are for both the yoga curious and the well seasoned yogi. It is sure to delight young and old; children are most definitely welcome here! We kindly request that you keep an open mind about goats being farm animals (AKA we can’t control when and where they decide to potty!) Please leave your expensive Lululemon attire or Jade yoga mat at home. Beach towels are great for Goat yoga or an inexpensive $5 yoga mat. We have even used Chindi rugs!

If you stop and question Lanna Calhoun or Gabby Orcutt: “Hey, you do that goat yoga right? You own the goats?” Their reply will be: “Lanna is the goats. Gabby is the yoga. This creates the yin-yang of Goat Yoga.”
Lanna inherited the family farm. After researching animals, she quickly settled on goats and chickens. These were the perfect livestock for a Woman Owned farmstead. Her Boutique shop offers many natural salves, goats milk lotions + soaps, produce & local honey + maple syrup. Don’t forget your brown eggs too!
Gabby has been teaching yoga since 2016 when she fell in love with the movement after having her second child. Having never taught a yoga class with any type of animals, all it took was a Facebook message to turn this dream into a fun and exciting reality!
